Dennis Forster was born and raised in the Miiddle Park area of Colorado. At Mesa State College in Grand Junctopn he majored in drafting technology. He worked as a mine serveyor for 15 years in the Rocky Mountain area. He then became involved with construction surveying and did survey work at Denver International airport during it's construction. Dennis has worked as a land surveyor in Grand Junction since 1995.
He has had an interest in woodworking since high school. He purchased his first wood lathe in 1989, and began turning small vessels. Since then, his talent has inproved and has sparked a growing interest in the beauty and feel of turned wood. He has been a member of the American Association of Woodturners since 2001.
All of the wood he uses, has been gathered in the Grand Valley area from trees desstined for the landfill, or fireplace. He "rescues" these trees and gives them new life as works of art. Wood is a very beautiful and uni9que material. It is "warm" and inviting to touch. Each piece is "one of a kind", due to coloring, grain pattern, knots, and voids. Even though the tree no longer lives, it's wood, when finished, lives on. If you "feed" it with loight oil pllishing, it responds and becoms more lusterous and beautiful.
