I can't remember ever not being an artist. My mom says that at age four, I drew a picture of a wagon that was only partially on the page, to show that it was moving. Since then, I have continued to develop my creative abilities and begun to exhibit my art. Growing up in Ouray, I was encouraged to acquire skills in using a variety of media and depicting many subjects.
I particularly enjoy working with ink in the style of Japanese and Chinese ink paintings. Ink allows me to say a lot with only a few bold, versatile strokes. Drawing has always been my favorite form of art, especially if I am portraying a person, landscape, or flower.
Interesting shapes and color are some of the things that inspire me. I am struck by the beauty around me and hope that my artwork will glorify God and remind others that even the ordinary things in life are truly special.
