Donna is a Colorado native and has a true appreciation of the ability to see beauty and turn it into a tangible form. She graduated from Metropolitan State College in 1994 with a degree in Psychology. Donna has always been interested in various mediums of art and has always enjoyed working with her hands. In the Fall of 1998 Donna decided it was time to let her creative juices flow. A lampworking studio was set up in the basement of her home and the work and ideas have not stopped since. While leaning the art of offhand glassblowing she became an integral part of the operation of that studio as well.
Lampworking and offhand are both forms of glass blowing. Lampwork uses a torch as the heat source and the glass can be worked in or very near the flame. When doing offhand the molten glass is gathered from a furnace on a metal pipe and worked, then reheated in a glory hole.
A relationship must be developed with hot glass, it is like it is it's own entity and your purpose is to guide it into a particular form.
